Some benefits packages do not cover Registered Psychotherapists but they offer coverage for Psychologists and Social Workers. Many insurance companies do cover Registered Psychotherapists; you will have to confirm with your provider to find out which types of mental health professionals are available to you under your plan.

  • Psychologist - doctoral level professional who can make diagnoses, can also provide various modalities and approaches to talk therapy.

  • Psychotherapist - master's level professional who can provide various modalities and approaches to talk therapy, focus on emotional and psychological wellbeing

  • Social Worker - master's level professional who can provide various modalities and approaches to talk therapy, focus on connecting clients with support and resources

3. Do you accept insurance coverage for my extended benefits plan?

Once payment is processed at the end of each session, I will email you a receipt that you can submit to your benefits provider for reimbursement.

4. Do you do any direct billing?

I offer direct billing for Vetrans who are covered under Medavie Blue Cross.

5. Our family doctor suggested CBT, do you offer this?

I facilitate each session from a CBT lens and integrate components of CBT into practice to help people gain insight and awareness into the impact of their thoughts, emotions, and actions. My favourite actionable tools to implement are: Behavioural Activation, Cognitive Restructuring, Thought Records, and Successive Approximation.

6. Our family doctor suggested DBT, do you offer this?

I have taken some educational courses on DBT skills training. At this time, I do not hold a certificate in formal DBT training. I do incorporate some of the skills from the 4 modules into sessions based on client need. My favourite tools to implement are: Window of Tolerance, Urge Surfing, Radical Acceptance, and Wise Mind.

7. Our family doctor suggested medication, can we talk to you about this?

Absolutely! Though I won't be giving you any medical advice, it's great to explore what medication means to you and have a space to talk about this in session.

8. Our child's teacher suggested that we get a diagnosis, can we talk to you about this?

Absolutely! Thought I won't be making any diagnoses, we can explore the discussion of a diagnosis for your child and what impact that might have.
